Joan Power (illustrator)
Joan has had a keen interest in art since early childhood but,
being from a large family in tough economic times, she was never
afforded the opportunity to pursue this passion.
After school, she moved to Ontario where she married and started a
family. In 1985, she returned to Cape Breton and began painting in
earnest. Her work includes painting in oil, acrylic and water color and
can be found in many homes throughout the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario
as well as the Eastern U.S .
When the opportunity to illustrate this book was presented, she accepted
without hesitation. Not only does she feel it is an honour to contribute
to such a worthwhile cause, but this will also leave a legacy for her
own grandchildren, who were the inspiration for the characters in her
illustrations.
